About this wine

Vina Ventisquero Vertice Syrah Carménère is a bold Chilean red blend showcasing intense blackberries, black pepper, damp earth, and native forest aromas with a hint of graphite and soft spice. The palate delivers firm structure and silky tannins, balanced by medium to high acidity. Dark fruit and spice flavours unfold beautifully, leading to a persistent, well-rounded finish. A superb pairing for spicy dishes like Indian, Thai, Mexican, and Spanish cuisine, as well as semi-ripe cheeses and rich meats such as venison.

Producer: Vina Ventisquero

Viña Ventisquero was founded in the late 1990s by Gonzalo Vial and has quickly gone on to become one of the countries top wine producers. With a winery based in the coastal Maipo Valley the estate sources grapes from the prestigious Casablanca, Leyda, Colchagua and Apalta Valley regions to produce a range of sought-after, awardwinning wines. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère provide the backbone of the range produced by winemaker Felipe Tossa and consultants Aurelio Montes and ex-Penfolds winemaker, John Duval. Young, dynamic and innovative, the wines of Viña Ventisquero provide a captivating glimpse into the diversity of terroirs of this exciting wine nation.

Food pairing suggestions

This wine is a perfect match for rich red meats like beef, lamb, and venison, especially grilled, barbecued, or roasted. Aged cheeses like cheddar and parmesan, along with dishes seasoned with black pepper or smoky flavours, complement it beautifully.

It also pairs beautifully with grilled or barbecued pork, smoked meats, and cured cuts like salami and prosciutto. Mushrooms, tomato-based dishes, garlic, roasted capsicum, pasta, potatoes, and crusty bread make excellent matches.
