About this wine

Showcasing the elegance of extended surlie (on lees) aging, delivering rich texture and balanced phenolics. Sourced from the Barossa’s Western Ridge, where compact red iron ridge soils and dry conditions encourage early picking to preserve natural acidity, this wine is naturally fermented and aged in French oak barriques before being bottled unfiltered and unfined. The result is a rich golden hue with bright straw highlights. Aromas of apricot, honeysuckle, wild fennel, and grapefruit leap from the glass. On the palate, succulent tropical fruits meet fresh acidity, a broad texture, and a taut mineral backbone for a beautifully structured, fresh yet full-bodied wine.

Producer: Massena

Massena was established at the turn of the century by Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish. Growing up amongst the old vines of the Barossa inspired a collaboration in making wines of character, balance and a reflection of the sense of enjoyment in the whole winemaking process. The search for amazing vineyards continued year after year which culminated in welcoming Stonegarden custodian Glen Monaghan into the Massena collective. Our wines are made with a view that each wine has a context. With food, with friends, for no reason whatsoever, they are there to be enjoyed.
