About this wine
Bodegas Valdemar Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva is a classic Rioja red, offering complex aromas of spice, cedar, eucalyptus, and subtle tobacco. The palate is elegant and beautifully balanced, revealing layers of red cherry, balsamic notes, and fine earthy character. Refined tannins and gentle acidity lead to a smooth, lingering finish. A superb match for slow-cooked lamb, aged Manchego, or grilled vegetables. Enjoy now or cellar gracefully for further complexity.

Producer: Bodegas Valdemar
Since 1889, five generations of the Valdemar Family have produced some of the finest wines from Rioja. It was Joaquín Martínez Bujanda who started the company with 10 hectares of vines in Rioja Alavesa and over the years the estate has expanded to include some of the best vineyards across the region. Chosen as one of the 5 Best Wine Cellars of Rioja by Wine & Spirits magazine their Conde Valdemar range of wines includes the crisp, energetic Viura white and a selection of beautifully made Tempranillo from Crianza to Reserva and the top-of-the-range Gran Reserva, a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana from the family vineyards in Rioja.

Enjoy it best with pork dishes like roast pork, tenderloin, and pork chops. Smoked meats, blue cheese, mushrooms, onion, garlic, tomato, capsicum, and aromatic spices like anise, turmeric, saffron, fennel, and ginger bring out its richness.
It also pairs well with grilled or barbecued lamb, roasted chicken or duck, and cured meats such as salami and prosciutto. Creamy cheeses like brie and camembert, pasta, beans, peas, black pepper, fresh herbs, potatoes, and crusty bread complement the wine perfectly.
