About this wine
Ata Rangi Pinot Noir is a benchmark Martinborough Pinot, showcasing elegance, depth, and fine structure. Fragrant aromas of juniper, rose petal, and plum are layered with spice notes of cardamom and sumac. The palate is concentrated and refined, reflecting the small-yielding vintage, with bright acidity and polished tannins carrying through to a long, graceful finish. A superb pairing with cured meats, poultry, mushroom risotto, or soft cheeses. Enjoy now or cellar confidently for added complexity.

One of the pioneers of the region, Clive Paton was one of the first to plant grapes on the Martinborough Terrace in 1980 and the winery has since gone on to become a legend of the New Zealand wine industry. Home of the Gumboot clone of Pinot Noir, a cutting from the vineyards of Domaine de la Romanée Conti allegedly smuggled back into the country by an enterprising Kiwi in a pair of gumboots. In 2010 Ata Rangi was honored with the Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa award, New Zealand's equivalent of Grand Cru status and wine-maker Helen Masters consistently produces some of the countrie's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Ideal alongside cured meats like salami and prosciutto, as well as poultry including chicken, duck, and turkey. It’s equally at home with sautéed or fried dishes, soft cheeses like brie and camembert, creamy sauces, and earthy mushrooms.
It also works beautifully with grilled or barbecued chicken, roasted pork or duck, and smoked foods. Onion, garlic, fresh herbs, toasted nuts and seeds, warming spices like cinnamon and clove, pasta, whole grains, and potatoes are excellent partners.
