About this wine

A benchmark of Veneto’s winemaking, Allegrini Amarone DOCG 2020 is rich, bold, and beautifully balanced. Layers of black cherry, prune, and violet lead into savoury notes of black pepper, thyme, and Mediterranean herbs. Complexity builds with hints of forest floor, graphite, nuts, and figs, softened by subtle vanilla. Full-bodied with firm yet integrated tannins, it finishes long and elegant. This Amarone promises cellaring potential for up to 20 years. Perfect with slow-cooked meats, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses, or even spiced desserts like panforte.

Producer: Allegrini

Located in Fumane di Valpolicella, the Allegrini family have been producing wine in the region since 1557 and today tend around 70 hectares of vines in the communes of Fumane, Sant Ambrogio and San Pietro, all situated within the Valpolicella Classico DOC. The Allegrini range includes Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto as well as the single vineyard wines, La Grola made from Corvina, Rondinella, Syrah and Sangiovese and La Poja produced from just Corvina. Work in both the vineyard and winery is meticulous with no stone left unturned. Allegrini are considered to be one of the regions, and Italy’s finest producers.

Food pairing suggestions

This wine is a perfect match for rich red meats like beef, lamb, and venison, especially grilled, barbecued, or roasted. Aged cheeses like cheddar and parmesan, along with dishes seasoned with black pepper or smoky flavours, complement it beautifully.

It also pairs beautifully with grilled or barbecued pork, smoked meats, and cured cuts like salami and prosciutto. Mushrooms, tomato-based dishes, garlic, roasted capsicum, pasta, potatoes, and crusty bread make excellent matches.
